LIFE EcoTimberCell has been selected among the 8 finalist projects in the Ecodesign Awards of the National Environmental Congress, Conama 2020.
This is the third edition of these awards, which aim to give visibility to innovative products, services and business models that are committed to reducing the environmental impact of their life cycle.
The Conama 2020 Ecodesign technical committee has selected eight finalist projects that will be presented to a jury of experts during the congress and will be evaluated according to their innovative capacity, reduction of environmental impact, use and results achieved. This evaluation will result in a jury prize and a public prize.
LIFE EcoTimberCell will present to the jury its contribution to climate change mitigation through the creation of EcoTimberCell low-carbon building systems. These building elements provide long-term carbon sequestration with sustainable materials. The use of these products replaces other energy-intensive industry by-products such as concrete and steel in buildings.
Another important aspect is that the project promotes sustainable forest management, as the ETC systems are based on certified local timber from the forests of the North-West of the Iberian Peninsula.
